Family Workers

A Family Worker is a qualified professional who supports families by increasing parent’s confidence in their ability to raise their kids.

Family Workers offer general support for any difficulty a family may be experiencing, whether it’s isolation, lack of support, financial stress, unemployment, multiple young children or mental health issues.

Our Family Workers come from a range of backgrounds, including social work, psychology, early childhood, child protection and teaching. Family Workers live and work in the community that they serve, providing information and advice around daily family life.

Depending on a community’s needs, the role of the Family Worker is flexible. The services delivered in each location are unique to the requirements of each particular community.

Support may include facilitating parenting programs with small groups and individuals, running a Supported Playgroup or organising community events.

Family Workers also work closely with individual families in their own homes.

1

Helping vulnerable families

Parents who are referred to us often have little or no support. They’re isolated and experiencing depression, anxiety or other mental health issues. They may be overwhelmed trying to cope with multiple children under the age of five years. They may have escaped domestic violence and many of them are under financial stress.

Family Workers offer a variety of options, depending on the family’s exact needs.
